Google’s agentic partnership with Walmart, the end of click-and-buy retail?

Google and Walmart are embedding Walmart and Sam’s Club inventory into Google’s Gemini AI to move retail from search-based eCommerce to agent-driven shopping. The partnership aims to eliminate friction by enabling discovery, personalization and checkout directly within AI conversations, online and in-store. This signals the rise of agentic commerce, where AI agents handle shopping tasks and reshape how consumers buy and retailers compete.
